Throughout the pages of this first Rogue Valkyrie story, Rowan is forced to face her own failings as well as the injustices heaped upon an entire sect of the supernatural community. Whether the professor truly knew the nightmare he was unleashing or not is unclear but things do not end well for him-or for Rowan. In an attempt to make a bad situation better, Rowan takes an illicit job, opening a crypt for a treasure-hunting professor. In just a matter of a few days, we become acquainted with Rowan McQuaid, a young (even by human standards) valkyrie codebreaker who has landed herself in a bit of a pickle. Valkyrie Cursed is a perfect first-in-series. Rosie Wylor-Owen has made a very promising start for this series with this book, and I am very curious about the next installments in this series. The story introduced me to both Valkyries and this author. However, it is in the middle part that you get the necessary knowledge about the characters and some background information, so this part is certainly not boring. The story starts and ends with actionfilled scenes, although the middle part remains a bit more superficial. Rosie Wylor-Owen has a great writing style. The story revolves around Rowan, a valkyrie, as well as a whole bunch of vampires. Will Rowan be able to put the vampires back in captivity?Īlthough the title suggests that Valkyries could play the main role in this story, however this is not the case. But now that a group of dangerous and bloodthirsty vampires have escaped, she must stop them before more bad things happen. But how did she survive the vampire bite? Can she trust her savior since he's a vampire? What happened in the tombs anyway? Slowly, Rowan learns more and more about what happened in the tombs and gets answers to her questions. Not a single magical creature survives a vampire bite, but how come Rowans still feels everything after she is bitten? Is this life after death? She soon finds out that she didn't die after the vampire bite, and she was rescued by another vampire.
